Audio Typist (Part Time)

Job Description

The Community Law Partnership is a firm of Legal Aid Solicitors in Birmingham City Centre specialising in Housing, Public Law and Community Care. We are seeing to recruit a part time permanent Audio Typist.

Main purpose of Job

Audio Typing correspondence and documents pertaining to the firm’s clients. At least one year’s experience of audio typing in a similar environment is essential.

Assist in the smooth running of the firm by performing administrative tasks arising from work of the firm and its internal operation. This will include a variety of tasks from those listed below but will not be limited to the main responsibilities given below.

Key Tasks (not an exhaustive list)

Audio Typing correspondence and documents



Hand deliveries in central Birmingham

Delivery and collection of DX post

Distribution and collation of outgoing post

Cover for Telephonist/Receptionist

Logging Funding Certificates on the system

Preparation of outgoing mail for DX/franking/posting

Ensure the confidentiality of all the firms and clients’ documentation and information

Undertake other clerical and administrative duties as may reasonably be required from time to time

Person Specification

(The skills and knowledge and experience required to fulfil the role satisfactorily)

Essential/Desirable Skills

Accurate audio typing skills and a speed of at least 70 w.p.m will be required

Good administrative skills including carrying out tasks efficiently and accurately. I.T. skills. Ability to prioritise workload.

Essential/Desirable Knowledge

The firm’s procedures. Understanding the particular problems of our client group

Essential/Desirable Experience

Working in a legal practice in a typing/administrative capacity. Working in a publicly funded organisation.

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm Monday – Friday (20 hr week).

Salary: £18,042 per annum (£10,310 pro rata for 20hr week)
