Enabling Gypsies, Roma and Travellers
The Welsh Government are consulting on a replacement to the Travelling to a Better Future Framework for Action and Delivery Plan (2011). The new document, Enabling Gypsies, Roma and Travellers is very positive and we would encourage people to send in submissions. You can find details here: https://consultations.gov.wales/consultations/enabling-gypsies-roma-and-travellers
The deadline for submissions is December 21. TAT have produced a joint submission with Marc Willers QC and Dr Simon Ruston of Ruston Planning.
Definition Challenge
We are pleased to inform readers that Mrs Nunn and her family have finally found a permanent home. However this does mean that her challenge to the new definition of Gypsy/Traveller has become academic and will have to be withdrawn.
Green Belt Planning Appeals
Connors & ors v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (SSCLG); Mulvenna & Smith v SSCLG [2017] EWCA Civ 1850, 17 November 2017.
The case of Mulvenna and Smith concerned the discriminatory decision by Eric Pickles, back in 2014 when he was SSCLG, to recover their respective planning appeals for his own determination. Having done so Mr Pickles rejected his Planning Inspector’s recommendation in each case that planning permission be granted and he dismissed both appeals.
